The striking Phormium Guardsman is a bold architectural plant prized for its dramatic upright form and richly coloured foliage. Wide, sword-like leaves emerge deep bronze-maroon and are highlighted by vivid scarlet-red margins, creating a strong visual statement in the landscape year-round. Often regarded as one of the finest and darkest red of the larger upright flax cultivars, Guardsman brings exceptional colour depth and structure to modern, coastal, and subtropical gardens. Growing as a broadleaf evergreen perennial, it typically forms an impressive clump and occasional removal of older leaves will keep the plant looking fresh and tidy. Excellent for large containers, mass planting, or as a dramatic standalone specimen.
