A vigorous, upright tree with an open canopy, Chandler begins producing meaningful crops in around 23 years, with heavy harvests ripening mid to late season. Chandler Walnut is the worlds leading walnut variety, prized for its consistently high yields and premium-quality nuts. Late to leaf and bloom, it helps avoid frost damage and produces large, well-sealed walnuts with extra-light, excellent kernels. Nuts are medium to large, smooth, oval-shaped, and crack cleanly in half, delivering one of the highest kernel yields of any variety. Partly self-fertile, but planting more than one tree will improve pollination and boost yields.

Soil: Well-drained soil. Mulch well and keepwatered through summer to support strong nut development.

Conditions: Full sun. Best suited to cool, temperate climates requiring 7001000 chill hours. Frost tolerant.
