An extraordinary addition to any plant collection, the Pitcher Plant is a fascinating carnivorous species that naturally captures and digests insects for nourishment. Its unique trailing stems develop elegant pitcher-shaped traps natures own insect catchers that add an exotic touch to your indoor or outdoor space. Once established, Nepenthes will begin to vine and grow vigorously, looping around and clinging to nearby supports. Provide a trellis or hanging basket to showcase their graceful habit. In summer, they thrive outdoors under a shaded tree where bright light, warmth, and natural humidity help them flourish.
Maintain high humidity mist regularly, or place in a well-lit bathroom or greenhouse. To keep your plant happy, add a small amount of water to each pitcher to maintain moisture, and feed sparingly using a very dilute (10%) orchid fertilizer twice monthly during the growing season. Never feed meat or cheese this will harm the traps.
